How a Few Hens Changed Everything: The Poultry Supply Co. Story

How a Few Hens Changed Everything: The Poultry Supply Co. Story

We didn’t set out to reinvent poultry equipment. Honestly, we just wanted daily fresh eggs.

Back in 2019, life was moving a little slower. Like many people, we were looking for something simple and grounding; something that brought a little joy to the daily routine. A handful of hens seemed like a great idea; sharing fresh eggs with our friends and family, learning poultry care, and how to manage a healthy backyard flock.

So we set up a brooder, brought home some chicks, and before we knew it, we were building multiple coops, and becoming our neighborhood egg dealer.

Turns out Chicken Math is Real

What began with a couple of chicks quickly grew into a full-blown backyard flock, with hens, ducks, geese, and all the joys and headaches that come with them.
And before long, we were spending early mornings refilling feeders, cleaning out waterers, and navigating all the daily chores that come with keeping poultry.

And while we loved it, we found ourselves making regular trips to the feed store to replace worn-out gear or patching things up with temporary fixes. Everyday chicken keeping had turned into a balancing act: bricks, buckets, and quick hacks just to keep things running.

From Backyard Problems to Real Solutions

Neither of us came from a farming background, one of us worked in structural engineering, the other in international trade and sourcing. But like many backyard chicken keepers, we found ourselves frustrated by the lack of durable, well-designed equipment.

We weren’t asking for much, just gear that would last. Something tough enough to handle any setup, whether it was a backyard coop, a bantam pen, a free-range flock, or fast-growing broilers.

We wanted a feeder that reduced waste, could hang or stand depending on the space, and came with the right accessories from the start. It had to be large enough to cut down on constant refills, but compact enough to fit easily into a backyard coop without taking over.

And when it came to waterers, we were tired of dealing with unbalanced setups that tipped or leaked. We needed something that holds water reliably, was easy to clean, simple to adjust, and had interchangeable parts that didn’t require complicated fixes.

Most of all, we wanted a solution that removed the need for poopy bricks, awkward DIYs, and daily frustration; a system that worked the way chicken keeping should: clean, simple, and reliable.

Designed with Purpose

At The Poultry Supply Co., we believe the best designs are the ones that put purpose first, whether that means making life easier for the chicken keeper, or better for the birds.

That’s why we chose food-safe HDPE as our base material for all our products. It’s non-porous and doesn’t trap bacteria, it holds up to harsh weather, and it’s naturally UV-resistant, making it one of the most reliable plastics for long-term use.

From day one, the goal was simple: create equipment that’s easy to use, built to last, and ready to grow with your flock, season after season.

Why We Do What We Do

There’s something deeply rewarding about knowing your flock is truly cared for: the Poultry Supply co. makes that peace of mind possible with durable materials, clean design, and features that simplify daily care. Every detail is built with intention, to keep your attention off the equipment, and focused on time with your flock.

Because great poultry care starts with the right tools.
